Extra-Curricular
Learning beyond the classroom
Our extra-curricular offerings give students a wide range of opportunities to explore their interests, develop new skills, build confidence and grow as well-rounded young people.
Sports, Leisure & House Spirit Challenges
Clearview students participate in Friday afternoon sports and leisure activities, taking advantage of local sporting venues and the College’s natural surroundings. These activities provide opportunities for students to try new challenges, develop physical fitness, and strengthen both interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.
In addition, students engage in House Points lunchtime competitions, designed to foster house spirit across all year levels throughout the year. These competitions include team sports such as 6-a-side soccer, touch football, and cricket, encouraging teamwork, healthy competition, and a sense of belonging within the College community.
Through both scheduled sports and house competitions, students build resilience, collaboration, and leadership skills while enjoying an active and connected school life.
Environment
The environment is a major focus for the Clearview Christian College community, and students are encouraged to take an active role in caring for God’s creation. Through rich, place-based learning experiences, students deepen their understanding of the local environment while contributing to meaningful conservation and sustainability initiatives.
Students participate in hands-on activities both within the College grounds and at the nearby Canoe Point precinct. These experiences include:
- Maintaining and splitting native stingless bees (Tetragonula species) to support local pollinator health.
- Participating in Tangaroa Blue Beach Clean-Up initiatives throughout the year, helping protect the marine and coastal ecosystems around Canoe Point.
- Joining the Reef Coral Watch program through Education Perfect, contributing citizen-science data to support reef health monitoring.
- Developing an aquaculture program in partnership with the Gladstone Area Water Board, where students assist in breeding and releasing approved fingerling species—such as barramundi—into the local Awoonga Dam.
- Cultivating the College’s kitchen garden, where students grow seasonal produce used in Food Technology lessons and student-led lunch initiatives, promoting healthy eating and an understanding of sustainable food systems.
- Running a student-driven recycling and composting program, helping reduce waste on campus, repurpose organic materials, and maintain a more sustainable school environment.
These opportunities nurture environmental stewardship, scientific curiosity, practical skills, and a strong sense of responsibility toward the local ecosystem. Students develop a meaningful connection to the natural world as they contribute to caring for the environment both on campus and within the broader community.

Clearview Christian College offers a vibrant and diverse Creative Arts program that celebrates student expression across music, drama, media arts, and visual arts. Students engage in a variety of individual, group, and collaborative projects that extend their creativity, confidence, and artistic skill. Learning experiences are student-driven and shaped by personal areas of interest, while also connecting students to meaningful community initiatives.
Music
Students participate in a wide range of musical experiences including instrumental, vocal, and ensemble work. Clearview proudly involves students in community initiatives such as the Gladstone Eisteddfod, the Gladstone Independent Schools Music Association (GISMA) events, and the biennial combined schools musical, giving students authentic performance experiences beyond the classroom.

Media Arts
Media Arts offers students hands-on opportunities to explore digital communication, production, and technical skills. Students learn how to operate sound desks, support live events, and contribute to school media productions. These skills are applied both within the College—for chapels, assemblies, performances, and special events—and in external settings, giving students real-world experience in media arts communication and technical production.
Visual Arts
Students explore visual art and design through studio-based projects, creative challenges, and community exhibitions. Clearview encourages student participation in local competitions and showcases including:
- Oceans Gallery, Tannum Sands exhibitions
- Gladstone Art Gallery – Golding Showcase for emerging young artists
- A variety of in-school art competitions and displays
These experiences help students build artistic skills while engaging with the broader creative community.

As part of our Creative Arts program, the Chapel Band provides students with the opportunity to develop and share their musical gifts in worship and community contexts. Students rehearse and perform regularly, contributing to the spiritual life of the College while strengthening their musical excellence, collaboration, and leadership.
Technologies
Technologies is an exciting extra-curricular opportunity for students to explore their interests in design, innovation, and digitally inspired activities. Students work collaboratively to identify shared areas of curiosity and engage in hands-on projects that develop creativity, problem-solving, and future-focused skills.
Students may participate in a range of activities including:
- STEM and STEAM projects (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics)
- Design challenges that encourage innovative thinking
- Digital innovation projects, including coding and multimedia
- In-house and state-level Robotics competitions, where students apply engineering, programming, and teamwork skills
