Philosophy & Aims
Principles that Guide Education at Clearview
At Clearview Christian College, we believe that our students were ‘created on purpose, for a God-given purpose’. Producing students of good Christian character is as important as equipping them with the knowledge and skills required to pursue their desired career pathways. At Clearview Christian College, young people are taught to genuinely care for and serve others. They are taught to appreciate the strength of teamwork and see the value of collaborative practices that consider the ideas and perspectives of others.
At Clearview Christian College, we believe that our partnership with parents in developing their child’s intellectual, spiritual, social, emotional, and physical growth, makes all the difference. The Clearview community values our relationships with parents, the local church, and the wider community in facilitating a strong support network. Connecting our students with local and global societies is vital in producing young people who are informed, active, and reflective participants in their community and world. We want our students to develop into responsible citizens, who are responsive to local, and world issues, and connected to their local community.
At Clearview Christian College, we believe that we are called by God to be good stewards of our local place, that has been entrusted into our care. We value sustainable practices that consider the needs of the local environment and community, taking into account local culture, history and learnings from the past. The diverse ecology surrounding the school site presents extensive opportunities to partner with local arts, environmental and scientific communities to establish projects that develop school pride and culture as well as give back to the local community needs.
At Clearview Christian College, we believe our students are called to ‘serve and care’ for our world.
Alice Springs (Mparntwe) Declaration
In December 2019, the Coalition of Australian Governments (COAG) Education Council, released the Alice Springs (Mparntwe) Education Declaration, a nationwide agreement to 10 years of dedicated commitment to impacting the lives of the coming generations through education. The Council agreed to two key goals that are to guide and drive the planning and implementation of the Australian Curriculum, and the interrelated frameworks and syllabuses of all states and territories, for all students from Prep to year 12. The Mparntwe Declaration places a renewed emphasis on addressing gaps in educational achievement as well as preparing students from an early age to thrive in a rapidly changing and challenging world.
The two goals articulated in the Mparntwe Declaration are:
- The Australian education system promotes excellence and equity.
- All young Australians become confident and creative individuals, successful lifelong learners, and active and informed members of the community.
Clearview Christian College prides itself on being at the forefront of life changing educational opportunities for all our students, and actively develops learning journeys that align well with the Mparntwe Declaration.
In alignment with Goal One of the declaration, Clearview Christian College endeavours to foster a sense of belonging, connectedness, and equity for all students through respect and appreciation of each individual. Acknowledging and addressing their diversity of abilities and talents, cultures, and backgrounds through early, proactive, and accessible support. Additionally, the college promotes academic excellence across all eight learning areas of our Australian Curriculum-based learning program. These include English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Health and Physical Education, The Arts, Technologies, and Languages.
In alignment with Goal Two of the declaration, Clearview Christian College actively encourages and values successful life-long learning. It aims to produce confident and creative individuals who are active and informed members of the community. At Clearview Christian College, the holistic development of our students is fundamental. Clearview Christian College recognises that an investment in a student’s personal growth alongside their academic goals, positions them for greater success in life. The innovative CLEAR program works alongside the curriculum to further equip students with knowledge on topics such as faith, wellbeing, study skills, life skills and careers. Learning activities such as integrated curriculum projects, provide opportunities for students to build resilience by working through new situations. They are designed to develop critical and creative thinking skills. These 21st century skills not only provide our students with greater opportunities for gaining workplace employment, but they also equip our students with the necessary life skills to handle challenges. At Clearview Christian College, we want all our students to graduate with confidence, understanding that ‘the value’ of who they are is not tied up in their job title but who they are as an individual.
