Exciting news for aspiring doctors: the pathway to medicine just got shorter at CQU.
We're pleased to share some exciting news for aspiring doctors: the pathway to medicine just got shorter at CQU.
From 2027, CQU's Bachelor of Medical Science (Pathway to Medicine) will offer a streamlined six-year pathway, enabling eligible students to complete their journey to becoming a doctor one year sooner.
Streamlined six-year pathway into medicine.
This innovative pathway guarantees progression, provided all units are passed, from CQUniversity directly into The University of Queensland's (UQ) regionally based Doctor of Medicine, at their Rural Clinical School sites in Central Queensland or Wide Bay with no second competitive application process to navigate.
Students studying this course will:
Complete their first two years with CQU in Rockhampton or Bundaberg.
Undertake their third year counting toward both their CQU degree and the first year of UQ's regionally based Doctor of Medicine.
Graduate with both CQU and UQ qualifications at the conclusion of six years of successful study.
Through the Regional Medical Pathway, students will have the opportunity to train and work within the Central Queensland or Wide Bay regions, becoming part of a generation of health professionals who truly understand and are committed to the communities that need them most.
