Over the course of Year 7 and 8, they will cover a broad range of exploratory subjects, providing them with multiple opportunities to identify natural interests and abilities. Learning experiences in exploratory subjects allow students to familiarise themselves with the nature of subjects offered as ‘elective’ choices across Year 9 and 10. The elective subjects offered in Year 9 and 10 build pathways towards senior subjects choices. All students will continue to participate in core subject knowledge and skill development on a regular basis. Students will be provided with the opportunity to select three elective choices. They are strongly encouraged to select subjects that they plan to take in Year 10, to provide maximum opportunity to build foundational knowledge and skill sets for the senior years. In Year 9 only, students undertaking elective choices in the Arts, will be provided with the opportunity to undertake two Arts subjects over the year, covering a semester each. It affords students the opportunity to further explore the diversity of the Arts subjects before committing to their final choice of an Arts subject in Year 10.
