  • Year 7 & 8
At Clearview Christian College, all students across Year 7 and 8, will engage with the eight learning areas of the Australian Curriculum. Students will regularly participate in core subject learning experiences developing key areas of content and skill. Over the course of Year 7 and 8, they will cover a broad range of exploratory subjects, providing them with multiple opportunities to identify natural interests and abilities. Learning experiences in exploratory subjects allow students to familiarise themselves with the nature of subjects offered as ‘elective’ choices across Year 9 and 10. Core Subjects English Mathematics Science Humanities and Social Sciences Health and Physical Education Exploratory Subjects Technologies (rotates each term) Food Technology Design Technology Digital Technology The Arts (rotates each term) Visual Art Drama Music Media Arts Languages Japanese School-Based Subjects Outdoor Education Projects CLEAR Program Students will also participate in Clearview’s distinctive CLEAR program which combines both well-being initiatives with life and learning skills, twice weekly.
  • Year 9
In Year 9, students can begin to tailor their subject choices based on their individual areas of interest and ability. The elective subjects offered in Year 9 and 10 build pathways towards senior subjects choices. All students will continue to participate in core subject knowledge and skill development on a regular basis. Students will be provided with the opportunity to select three elective choices. They are strongly encouraged to select subjects that they plan to take in Year 10, to provide maximum opportunity to build foundational knowledge and skill sets for the senior years. In Year 9 only, students undertaking elective choices in the Arts, will be provided with the opportunity to undertake two Arts subjects over the year, covering a semester each. It affords students the opportunity to further explore the diversity of the Arts subjects before committing to their final choice of an Arts subject in Year 10. • Year 10
In Year 10, students will continue developing knowledge and skills from the three elective choices selected in Year 9. All students will continue to participate in core subject knowledge and skill development on a regular basis. During the first semester, students will commence their Senior Education and Training Plan (SET) to determine senior subject choices and ensure that they are on track to meet prerequisites and desired career pathways. All students will undertake the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) Careers Education course, which upon completion will bank them one point towards their senior secondary Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). More tailored coursework options that build towards individual career pathways can be discussed with the careers coordinator.
