STUDENT SUPPORT SYSTEMS

Multi-Tiered Systems of Support

Our primary interest at Clearview is our students' journey to becoming young adults with a clear picture of who they are and where they are going. We view our role as facilitators, walking alongside them as they develop the knowledge and skills they require to succeed. By tailoring support to areas of particular need, we feel students have the best chance of achieving their goals and building successful futures.

Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) is a framework used for student support at Clearview Christian College. The purpose of MTSS is to provide learning, behavioural, social and emotional support that is tailored to each student. Through MTSS, Clearview offers three levels of support – universal support (Tier 1), small group support (Tier 2) and individualised support (Tier 3). MTSS helps each student feel a sense of connectedness and belonging within our school community, which is central to their wellbeing.

The MTSS framework uses a whole-child approach, tailored to the unique requirements of each student. Every student has a Learner Profile that is dynamic, student-driven and goal centred towards developing their spiritual, academic, physical, and emotional growth in a holistic and supportive manner.

An important aspect of MTSS is providing clear, modelled expectations and goals for all students through consultation and dialogue with students and their families. Students are guided through processes in social responsibility, care and consideration for self and others towards resilience, trust and courage.

When compared to traditional student support programs, MTSS is set apart by its proactive and relational nature. Clearview relies on strong teacher-student relationships, partnerships with parents, decisions based on evidence and monitoring of each student’s progress to maximise the chance that each student will achieve their goals.
